Avery Matthews, Donald DeVore Jr.

Avery Madeleine Matthews, the daughter of Wendy Matthews of Princeton, N.J., and Robert Matthews of Highland Park, N.J., is to be married on Wednesday to Donald Willard DeVore Jr., a son of Cynthia Callender of Paris and Donald DeVore Sr. of Baltimore. The Quaker ceremony is to be led by Woody Schempp, an uncle of the bride and a clerk of the Wilton Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends, at the Ritz-Carlton in Philadelphia
The bride, 29, will continue to use her name professionally. She is a candidate for a medical degree and a Ph.D. in microbiology at New York University, from which she received a master’s degree in microbiology. She graduated cum laude from Barnard.
Her father is a philosophy professor at Rutgers. Her mother is a child psychologist with a private practice in Princeton. The bride is the stepdaughter of Frances Egan.
The bridegroom, 30, is a guitarist and bassist with Hi-Soft, a rock band based in Philadelphia. He also works as an independent booking agent with Luna Lounge in Brooklyn and Relevent Group, an event production company in Manhattan.
His mother retired as the owner of Pasta Amore, an Italian specialty foods store in Philadelphia. His father is the Maryland Secretary of Juvenile Services in Baltimore. The bridegroom is a stepson of Christine DeVore and Robinson Callender.
The couple first met at a punk rock concert in Philadelphia in 1993. Mr. DeVore approached Miss Matthews and gave her a copy of a fanzine that he published called Content.
“I saved it,” Miss Matthews said. “I was a teenage girl, unsure of everything and flattered that someone was paying attention to me.” The couple stayed in touch.
They began dating when she was in college, but then, in 1997, they broke up.
“We were going down different paths,” said Miss Matthews, who added that although she had been involved with several punk bands in high school, playing drums in one, singing in another, it was never a serious pursuit. “He was interested in a rock ’n’ roll lifestyle, and I was interested in a nerd lifestyle — science and intellectual pursuits.”
But four years ago, love won out.
“I considered him the love of my life,” she said. “Eventually we’d become who we wanted to be, and we were still in love, so we got back together.”
Mr. DeVore said of their disparate lives: “I always knew it would go down this way. It sounds like we’d be opposites, but it makes sense in an offbeat way.”

7月4日に長年付き合って来た彼女と地元Phillyで結婚したそうです。
Donがイカルスを脱退して地元に帰った理由は、バンドより彼女を選んだということなのでしょうか。そして、Black Livesが完成したタイミングで去っていったと。個人的には、むしろそうであれば良いなと思います。
Black Livesはある意味Donの置き土産のようなものかも知れませんね。

イカルス・Buddyheadとは昔から親交の深いバンド、Burning Brides。Dimitriのインタビューです。
AaronがNINのオーディションを受ける前、Burning Bridesに加入する可能性があったようですね。
また、当時彼等がドラマーを探していることを知っていたAaronが元カノ（！）のバンドのライヴを観に行った時、別のバンドでプレイしていたドラマーに一目惚れしてスカウト、それが現在のドラマーPeteなのだとか。

7月6日はTravisの誕生日ということで、「寿司おごるから日本に来て」とメッセージを送ったところ「さうんずぐれいと」と返って来ました。Aaronと違って寿司好きみたいですね。
9月にNINが来日してくれれば良いのですが、とりあえず韓国公演ともしかしたら香港にも行く予定でおります。それまでにはデジカメを購入してこのブログにレポートでも載せられると良いなと。

・・全く更新していなくてすみません。
思い出したようにAaron先生トリビアを。
先日オーストラリアに行った際、didgeridoo（ディジュリドゥ）というアボリジニの楽器を購入したそうです。勿論飾りなどではなく実際に吹く気満々らしいのが凄いところ。
