Spill Magazineより、ツアー最終日のレヴューです。

'Opening band, The Icarus Line, played a heavy set with dirty L.A. punk attitude. Their songs are loud with driving power chords and an overtone of guitar fuzz distortion. Sort of like “Stooges” meets “Black Rebel Motorcycle Club” meets “Death From Above 1979”. Yeah!

Singer Joe Cardamone looks like Iggy Pop without the wrinkles and sounds like a cross between Perry Farrell and Robert Harvey (singer for “The Music”). His slightly effeminate “I don’t give a f*ck” swagger comes across as being obnoxious to just plain crass. Some may see this as the definitive “rock and roll star” attitude but the Wolfmother audience didn’t buy in to it. A few songs in to the set, some homophobic idiots starting throwing bottles and water condom balloons on stage.'

幾つかのレヴューから察するに、このツアーでのJoeはいかにもロックスター的なパフォーマンスを見せていたようですね。やたらswaggerという単語が出て来ます。何故そんなに自信たっぷりなんでしょうか、素敵です。この日はステージに色々投げ込まれていたようですが・・・お疲れ様でした。

大分前にBuddyheadのオンラインストアから購入。$12くらいだったし、何となく欲しくなってしまいました。このデザインはもう売っていないようですね。黒地に赤ロゴ、ガールズサイズで丁度良いフィット感です。でもやっぱりちょっと安っぽいのがBuddyheadクオリティ（笑）。
彼等の言うpigsとは警官のことらしいですね。何やらAaronのギターの裏にも。

今月Aaronの誕生日なので、昨日Buddyhead宛にプレゼントを送り、Travisに「誕生日野郎が戻って来たら渡してもらえますか？」とメールしたら「of course. thanks.」と返って来ました。
昨年も同じ事をしたのですが、その後しばらく忘れていて５月頃ふとTravisに「あれって届いたんでしょうか？」と訊いてみたところ即行返信が来まして、「今週渡す・・・」と（笑）。
怒ると言うより笑ってしまいました。今年もまた５月くらいになったら訊いてみようと思います。

02.27@Burton Cummings Theatre

Canoeというカナダのニュースサイトに少しだけレヴューが載っていました。

'Los Angeles rockers The Icarus Line opened the show with a relatively subdued set; something of a surprise, given the band's reputation for smashing, spray-painting and stealing stuff. The band's good behaviour left venue brass breathing easy but their failure to truly engage made it look like their equally retro swagger-rock was lost on the largely apathetic crowd.'

客の大半は無反応だったとか。まあ物を投げられるよりはマシですね・・・

面白いくらいのイメチェンっぷり。
思えばアルバムリリースのたびにラインナップもファッションも、そして音楽的にも大きく変化して来たバンドであるイカルスライン。これからも良い意味でファンを裏切ったり驚かせたりしてくれるのなら、それも有りですね（と、あくまでポジティヴに捉えてみる）。

'... After the opening act, The Icarus Line , finished their set, I was concerned about the acoustics in the Forum as I found most of Icarus’ set was sound like one song blended into another. However, their theatrical showmanship made up for the poor sound. The singer strutted, full scarf ensemble a la Steve Tyler, and did the hands on hips swagger channelling Mick Jagger. As well, there is nothing more humbling than having to be your own roadies at a big gig. I think Wolfmother chose well for their opening act as The Icarus Line definitely warmed up the crowd with their antics. (As well, the crowd seemed familiar with their songs Up Against the Wall, and Party the Baby Off.)'

意外とWolfmotherファンにも好評だったようですね。ローディーがいないので自分達で機材を運んでいたんでしょうか。相変わらず貧乏臭くて素敵、とポジティヴに考えることにします。

Joeのインタビューが載っています。最後の方、「Wolfmother？よく知らないけど関係ねーよ、俺達が全部持ってってやるよ」と解釈しました（笑）。現在カナダで一緒にツアー中ですね。

Black Lives release date

Myspaceでも3rd発売日がアナウンスされていますね。私は日本盤が出るのかどうかが気になっているのですが、今の所情報が見つかりません・・・

The Icarus Line's latest and greatest installment in their glorious recording catalog "Black Lives at the Golden Coast" is set to be released on May 14th in the UK/Europe on V2 records. Subsequently, Black Lives will be released on June 4th in the US on Dim Mak records.
